November Update!

Hello everyone!

We hope everyone is noticing and celebrating the great growth and progress we are seeing happening in class!

Just a few updates from around the classroom:

We spent the beginning of November finishing our pumpkin investigation (yes.. they lasted past Halloween!) We wrote about them, We read about them, we described them using our senses, we counted/sorted/measured/ them, the list goes on! We are very intentional about using a concept across all areas of the curriculum to help understanding on a deeper level.

We have spent the past week focusing our writing on family! It's what we all know best! Our next board celebration will be our writing samples!

In math we have been continuing to focus on number sense while taking opportunities to look at related concepts when appropriate! We have been skip counting by 1, 5 and 10 while using a 100 chart and other math tools/manipulatives to support understanding. We recently began exploring ways to make 10 using more than 1 number.

Community has been our focus in social studies. We have begun focusing on the following BIG questions! What is community? Who part of our community? What do communities need? How do we become community helpers?

Make sure your kiddo is reading with you every night!

We look forward to seeing you next week at conferences!
