December 9-13

This week in writing we spent a lot of time observing our snowman friend Olaf.  Each day he was up to something new and we were able to create fantastic sentences and questions about his location in our classroom and around the school. He even watched our Christmas concert from on top of the basketball hoop!

The apples students brought to school helped us learn about sorting, labeling parts of an apple and measuring . In math we weighed the apples and learned how a balance scale works. We also used Epic Books to do apple research. On Friday we had a taste test of a few of the varieties.  We took a vote to see which variety was the most popular in our class...Granny Smith came out as the winner!

Next week to get us in the holiday spirit, we are encouraging all grade 1 students to participate with us in dressing up in the following ways:

Monday - fun Christmas/winter head gear (Santa Hats, reindeer antlers etc)
Tuesday - red/green clothing
Wednesday - Christmas sweater
Thursday - PJ day

Stay warm,
K&K
